Chanova Sky is a musical artist currently based in San Diego, California. She was born and raised in Waipahu, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, and moved to Alaska when she was 11, living there for many years before moving to Washington in 2022. Eventually, life brought her to San Diego to be with her father, who had planned to start an agricultural business in his dream retirement state of California. Sadly, those plans were cut short when her father fell ill and passed away on October 13, 2023.

Chanova’s passion for music was inspired by her maternal grandfather, whose daily guitar playing throughout her entire childhood sparked her interest in songwriting. She began writing music at the age of 12 as a way to process her emotions during life’s many challenges. For years, she kept her work private, sharing only with close friends and family. One of her earliest poems was published in the National Library of Poetry in the late 1990s. Writing has always served as both therapy and a creative outlet for her—she’s penned hundreds of songs, as well as short stories, movie scripts, and poems. Her artistry is raw, heartfelt, and multidimensional.

Chanova’s vocal range allows her to shift seamlessly between sweet and tender tones to bold and powerful expressions, adapting to genres like R&B, pop, rock, and dance. Her lyrics are deeply personal, often reflecting her life experiences and emotional journey.

Sharing her music with the world had never crossed her mind—until many years into adulthood, when her closest friends encouraged her to. They felt her songs were not only emotionally resonant and relatable, but also beautifully crafted and catchy, with the potential to help others navigate their own feelings. That moment arrived unexpectedly during a songwriting event at a karaoke bar, where she met Nelson M. She shared an original song she had written for her father just days before his passing. Moved by her talent, Nelson scheduled a follow-up meeting and was astonished when Chanova arrived with a suitcase containing over 150 original songs. He soon began mentoring and managing her as she embarked on her music career. A few months later, she came across another forgotten piece of small luggage filled with more journals and notebooks — items she had accidentally packed into her eldest son’s suitcase. With this discovery, her total songwriting catalog grew to over 300 songs.

Chanova is a devoted wife and mother of three, always prioritizing her family. Due to her commitment to her family, the release of her debut album, Identity Crisis, has been postponed to 2026. It was originally planned for release in 2025.

Chanova Sky is also an emerging published author with her first children’s book, “You’re Still a Winner in Your Heart For Trying” illustrated by Hill San becoming available in September 2025.

Chanova has written dozens of children’s books since a young age as a hobby. She’s also written many short stories, novellas and a couple of long novels. Her first novel should be available in early 2026.
